Students in our internship programs learn how MTC works, how we partner with other agencies and how they can be a part of shaping the landscape of the Bay Area.

MTC offers educational summer opportunities for both college and high school students. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the College Internship Program became the Pathway to Government College Mentorship Program and the High School Internship program became the Bay Area Summer Academy.

College Internship Program

MTC’s “Pathway to Government College Mentorship Program” provides students with the opportunity to gain professional work experience in transportation planning, finance and operational projects.

High School Internship Program

The high school internship program has transformed into the “Bay Area Summer Academy.” This program gives students the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a metropolitan planning organization.
